Of Hungarian decent, Richard was born in July 17, 1973 in the city of Nove Zanky, Slovakia. He attended elementary school and later in trade school to become an auto mechanic. After high school he served in the Slovak army for 18 months as part of the government requirement. He found a job at a local garage after his discharge from the army.

Richard began painting when he lost his job due to a down turn in the economy when Slovakia separated from the Czechoslovak Republic in 1993. Despite the fact he never received formal training, his talent for capturing reality and bringing it to life on canvas was apparent. His early paintings were commissioned works including portraits of pets and children. However, it was his interest in nature that motivated him to pursuit painting as a career.

In 1999 he immigrated to Canada and was soon introduced to the North American art scene. He traveled across central and western Canada, camping in the wilderness province by province, to immerse himself in Canada's natural heritage.

Richard's inspiration for his spectacular images come from the constant changes that occur in nature. By using oil as a medium and only using 6 colours (white, yellow, red, brown, blue & black), the colours are mixed into desired shades to bring his subjects to life. His exceptional attention to detail enables his paintings to act as portals for transporting the viewers to the place and moment as seen through Richard's eyes.
