Lorna Dockstader was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1947, and has resided in Calgary since 1972. She has been painting for twenty two years and has been exhibiting in commercial galleries since 1991. She was elected as a senior signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists in 2002; and was designated as a Premier Pastelist of Canada (Ottawa), in 2006.
Lorna works in a variety of media, including oils, pastels, watercolors and acrylics. She has gained recognition for her strong designs which optimize the use of contrasts, varied shapes, and rhythms. Her intention is to create compelling and unique landscapes. “I really like to optimize the full potential of my colour palette, creating both unconventional, yet elegant, combinations”. Lorna's work has been published in: The Best of Canadian Pastels, Pastel Artist International, International Artist, Galleries West, and Canadian Brushstroke magazine.
